The need for a website for a department like Planning which deals with all other departments of the state government cannot be over emphasized. The work of website was started by my predecessor Sh. AR Talwar, IAS some time in March, 2006. It began as in-house job. Ultimately this work was assigned to NIC and professionals were hired through the Punjab Infotech.
We have tried to put all relevant information on the site. It includes the Annual Plans, Five Year Plans, Details of the Schemes administered by the Department of Planning, the monthly progress and status of these schemes. The information would be easily accessible and therefore even the officials of the Planning Department will also find it useful.
We have now started work on making this website dynamic. The file monitoring system has been put in place and will be web enabled shortly. The other departments will be able to see status of their files on the site. I appreciate the efforts of Sh. Pardeep Kumar Kaushal, Deputy Director and Ms. Anupam, Research Officer of the Department for coordinating the efforts of the different branches of the Planning Department. I am thankful to Ms Manjeet Kaur, Java Programmer for preparing and hosting the site. Thanks are also due to National Informatics Centre, Punjab for facilitating the establishment of the site.
